TAG, I'm it!

Musical notes

I don't usually get involved when I am Tagged by fellow bloggers when it comes to "this list" or "that list" but I decided I would participate in Rage's contest after I was tagged for two reason's.

One, I found this particular list different from all the standard All about ME lists. Reason two is for no other reason then that Lucy is my friend. She tagged me and the fact that she thought of me, considering I oppose many of her views, says, if nothing else, just how fond she is of a good ole' "Righty" such as myself. For that, I thank her and feel that this one list is worth the effort.

The list compiled here with Rage's contest, asks the contestant to compose a song list consisting of their personal top 20 picks. If they like "your" list best then you will be hosting Rage "from the couch" for a night. Although I am not officially entering, here is my top 20 (in no particular order). I cannot guarantee all of these would fit under a punk/rock category.

1.) Peace sells but who's buying - Megadeth
2.) And Justice for all - Metallica
3.) Coma - GNR
4.) Estranged - GNR
5.) In my world - Anthrax
6.) You can't bring me down - Suicidal Tendencies
7.) Walk - Pantera
8.) Badlands - Metal Church
9.) Wanted dead or alive - Bon Jovi
10.) You can't break me - Precious Death
11.) Tire kickin' - Tourniquet
12.) Forever free - WASP
13.) The Ballad - Testament
14.) It's a long way to the top - AC/DC
15.) Wildflower - The Cult
16.) Outkast - P.O.D.
17.) Anti-social - Anthrax
18.) Set it off - Thousand Foot Krutch
19.) Let it roll - BTO
20.) Run thru the jungle - CCR

The contest also requests that you give your rationale/reasoning behind your top 5 picks. For me, personally, lyrical content has a lot too do with the songs I prefer to listen too. A song must have meaning and touch some inner chord with the soul. Every song I have chosen here either has or at one time HAD spoken to some area in life that I could relate too. Anyone can write a bunch of meaningless blather to a good beat (See the royal duchess herself and her "Humps") but that does not make it a quality song.

My top 5 were:

Megadeth Peace sells!

1.) Peace sells but who's buying - The title alone says it all. There have been times where I have supported a particular war but not because I am in favor of war overall. Peace sells, heck it's free! But there are not many takers.

Guns n roses

2.) Coma - This song, even combined with "Estranged", spoke to me during some very dark times in my life. Many times I wanted to be in this state simply to escape. Actually now that I reflect on this song it is quite depressing.

Precious death

3.) You can't break me - This song screams out to be my own personal title song. It was written for The Intolerant One. Precious Death is an awesome Christian band with ballz!

"If everything is relative and nothing absolute why don't I just take this gun ...(heavy metal guitar riff)
But if some things are always wrong then something must be right....(heavy metal guitar riff)

TOLERANCE, TOLERANCE! but you can't tolerate me/ so you go back in the world till you start liking the sound/ and till your to hard to the truth for me to give it to you/ now you can hate me but you can't break me!

Never knew the name of the game, never knew the words were the same, never knew the real thing

For a man to say that everything is meaningless and relative till he looks at a picture of his kids...

I have known many men that have floated in these fluid worlds but I have never known one they could live by...

TOLERANCE, TOLERANCE! but you can't tolerate me/ so you stereotype and choose the wrong and the right/ then you walk and complain until you drive me insane and you can hate me but you can't break me!"

The song goes on and on but you get the picture ;)

Pantera

4.) Walk - This song is all about respect. Walking the walk and calling the talkers/phonies on the floor to quit the BS. An angry band with an attitude to back it up! I don't care for a lot of their other music but this song has my RESPECT!

"Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence /One step from lashing out at you... /You want in toget under my skin /And call yourself a friend /I've got more friends like you /What do I do?

(Pre) Is there no standard anymore? /What it takes, who I am, where I've been /Belong /You can't be something you're not /Be yourself, by yourself /Stay away from me /A lesson learned in life /Known from the dawn of time
(Chorus)
Respect, walk

Run your mouth when I'm not around /It's easy to achieve /You cry to weak friends that sympathize /Can you hear the violins playing your song? /Those same friends tell me your every word

And finally...

acdc75-77

5.) It's a long way to the top - Alright, I confess that about 15 years ago I wanted to be a rock star. Who didn't when they were younger? The lyrics would almost be expected regarding the determination and struggles one goes thru to "Make it to the top". But what got to me about this song was the Bagpipes! Only AC/DC could have bagpipes playing in the background to a hard riffin' rock song and actually pull it off! This song rocks!

Well, that is it. I wish I could have commented on every song and why I chose it but that would take up even far more posting time. If you are curious about one I listed just ask. After all, those who know me, already understand that I am quite an "open minded" individual....for a conservative;)

Until next time...

For your eyes only

yellow-evidence-tape_LRG

I always find it rather odd how the masses continue to believe and follow that which is not proven, questionable, under scrutiny (and rightfully so), and yet allow themselves too be duped that a hypothesis is a reality. That a theory is a fact.

It is a message that is pounded into them time and time again without solid consistent evidence and those that continue to question or simply do not accept based on the lack of evidence are made out to be portrayed as archaic stubborn headed dinosaurs who are refusing to accept the obvious. The obvious according to the mainstream doctrinal teachings that is.

The problem is how can it be obvious when based on incomplete and insufficient data that does not allow for scientific conclusion of "absoluteness" and instead requires more "Guesstimation" on percieved probably's? Which in reality is more close to a "maybe" and further away from actuality.

Many of these theoretical "possibilities" that are being espoused as truth claims that, only supposedly intelligently superior human beings are capable of accepting, seem to be missing some of the most vital and crucial ingredients that would not even fly if they were on trial in a court of law.

That being eyewitness accounts.

In fact "eyewitness" accounts, when they have taken place, still had the masses flocking the other direction when the evidence is before them. Take, for example, Planned Parenthood's version of "Safe sex". Throw condoms at kid's and the teenage pregnancy rate's will drop and so will the rate of STD infections. Hmmmmm well, 30 years later we are now dealing with not only a consistent rise in teen pregnancies but also in teen abortions. We have now gone from 2 sexual diseases in the 1960's to almost 30 in the 1990's. A minority of them lifetime and some of those fatal. With the evidence and eyewitness accounts before us....the community of the superiorly intelligent ignore the obvious and throw more condoms at them. After all, "The little darlings are going to do it anyway!" Typical mantra chant of the defeatist attitude. The problem has escalated to gigantic proportions.

Of course we can also bring in the never ending debate of the origins into this and the often questionable "science" behind one of the world's most organized religion's with it's policy of narrow minded intolerance towards suggestions of other possible scientific theories. I always thought ALL theories were to be considered "equal" until one was actually proven true.

Then of course there is the latest propaganda spin coming from way out in "Left" field. The "Chicken Little's" featuring Al Gore & David Suzuki co-starring with United Nations IPCC in the latest version of "The sky is falling.....AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" Apparently, and as is usually the case, very questionable science and shaky theories are to be the only acceptable "truth" by these alarmists that global warming is a man made problem (Yawn!). That is a very interesting position to take when considering the cold weather and large amounts of snowfall that has been received in the past month.

In fact this time last year (the week between April 1-7, 2006) the average temperature on my side of the world was averaging between 3 and 8 degrees Celsius which is quite normal for that time of year. I had already been riding my motorcycle for a week and a half at that time. Same time only move forward to 2007 and the temperatures this past week, one year later, have hovered between -14 to as low as -29 with lot's of snow and ice left to melt. In one year the tempature difference was as much as 37 degrees Celsius. As I type this we are dipping down too -14 tonite. Last year, again, our high was +10. Nice call Al & Dave. Keep cranking out the BS!

(Ice jams on the Red river nearby where the spring thaw froze up and caused this mess. Global warming could have avoided this!!!)

But people still tend gobble it all up. Mind boggling. People "believe" evolution with out ever giving an eyewitness testimony of ever seeing it actually take place. They believe that sex is safe even when they do witness the destructiveness it can have when one is promiscuously abusive with it. They believe global warming is man made without ever seeing the verifiable science to support it.

And yet just over 2,000 years ago a man was buried in a sealed tomb under protective custody of the Roman Empire upon the request of the Religious zealots who wanted to ensure the body was not stolen under cover of night so His followers could not make radical claims about him. It was not a matter of His body going missing that trouble these individuals. It was what actually took place 3 days later that they were afraid of. He rose from the dead not by way of passed on legends or fairy tales. If that were the case there would be so much more to speculate on. Instead He was witnessed alive and well roaming the land of Israel clearly displaying His defeat over death and the grave. This miraculous event was "eye" witnessed by over 500 people over a 40 day period. Yet today many do not believe them. 30 more witnessed His ascension into Heaven.

Eye witness testimonies do not seem to hold as much water as speculative, unproven, never before seen footage. Many would rather believe and accept that which was never witnessed. It would appear many try to simply avoid the real truth. Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, has risen indeed. Happy Easter!
